Australia set the early pace across the Rugby League World Cup, with a women’s win over Samoa and a narrow result against New Zealand.

Australia’s women opened their tournament by cruising past Samoa. The result establishes a strong start in the women’s competition.

Australia also edged New Zealand in an epic World Cup opener, adding another headline to a tournament spanning men’s, women’s, and wheelchair rugby league. Separately, England enter the Powerchair Football World Cup among the favourites.

The focus now turns to the continuing reports, scores, and fixtures across the men’s, women’s, and wheelchair tournaments.
